Different kinds of pain
Tarkov punishes knowledge gaps — ammo types, quests, hideout math. Marathon punishes speed: TTK is brutal and AI security deletes lazy movement. Tarkov makes you study. Marathon makes you flinch.
Gunplay
Bungie's feel wins. IGN's review called Marathon gunplay "everything you'd hope for from a Bungie game." Tarkov modding is deeper, but moment-to-moment shooting belongs to Marathon.
